Bondi Beach is one of Australia's most iconic beaches and now with a new walking track, it links up to Manly Beach. The unique urban walkway is marked with 350 indigenous Australian whale symbols and signs to help walkers follow paths, as well as a digital interactive walking app that is available to download.
The Bondi To Manly Walk is a product of collaboration and officially opened on the 8th of December, 2019. This spectacular new attraction is a great new feature to have in the area as it allows walkers to experience Australia's beautiful landscapes and more. The route is protected and managed by the Bondi To Manly Walk Supporters with a mission to improve community awareness of the environment and educate the public on the area's cultural and indigenous heritage.
Minister, Stuart Ayres stated that the launch of the project was a great initiative to create a cherished national asset which is arguably one of the most beautiful paths any keen walker can travel. Highlights include the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, walkers are also able to enjoy the Spit Bridge and fascinating military tunnels.
The walking track is 80km long and can take walkers anywhere between three days to a week to conquer. Are you brave enough for the challenge? If you are, make sure to plan your routes ahead to make sure that you get to cover some of Sydney's best beaches and other hidden gems, like the emerald-hued lagoon of Parsley Bay. Planning your route is imperative if you are wanting to connect in with hotels on a night to night basis. 4 days of 20kms and 7 days of 11kms itineraries are curated to allow walkers to have a rested night before each day's activities.
Australia has seen a fair amount of tragedy in the last few months with the devastating wildfires. Therefore, it's important for initiatives like this to become more accessible to the public & of course to tourists to educate them about the importance of conserving Australia's natural flora and fauna. The New Urban Walking Path holds hope for the future of Australia's conservation efforts. The non-for-profit organization encourages people to donate to the Bondi to Manly Walk Supporters to help fund their critical role in protecting, managing and enhancing the walkway and the Sydney Harbour foreshore.
